        Orange County Fire and Rescue is looking to sponsor a group of hardworking and motivated individuals that have a passion to help others and the community. This an amazing opportunity for individuals looking to become firefighters but are not currently certified firefighters. This means that the candidates selected to become fire rescue recruits will attend certification courses at no cost to them, as well as be paid a full-time salary while attending classes. While attending school, recruits will participate in activities associated with preparing for the Florida State certification examinations for firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Recruits who successfully complete all requirements for obtaining the Florida Minimum Standards Certification Examination for Firefighters and Florida EMT Certification within the required timeframe will be offered positions as Firefighter/EMT with Orange County Fire and Rescue Department (OCFRD).

        It is 雷平very important雷平 that applicants also submit an interest card to recruiting. Candidates will be required to complete classroom and physical testing within specific deadlines in order to qualify. These deadlines are fast approaching. Upon submission of the interest card to recruitment, testing information will be provided to you. If you have already submitted an interest card, there is no need to do another.

        Orange County Fire Rescue Department (OCFRD) is proud to be internationally accredited and maintain an ISO Property Protection Class 1 rating. OCFRD provides world-class fire rescue and full-service emergency medical services, to include transport, within the 800 square miles of unincorporated Orange County and four municipalities. OCFRD has 42 community-based fire stations, with two new stations planned in 2020. Orange County Fire Rescue is also the home department to the University of Central Florida, one of the largest universities in the country as well as the second largest convention center in North America. OCFRD serves a population of over 870,000 residents. As the theme park capital of the world, Orange County attracts nearly 200,000 daily visitors.

        雷平Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)雷平
        The CPAT is the initial physical ability test for potential fire rescue candidates. This is a timed test based off of eight components. This test is offered on a monthly basis for those interested in becoming an Orange County Fire firefighter, paramedic, firefighter recruit. Prospective candidates are encouraged to reach out to recruitment for additional information on the CPAT.

        • 雷平Emergency Dispatcher雷平 – This person receives emergency calls, determines the appropriate response of emergency resources, dispatches resources, and provides updated information to the responding resources.
        • 雷平Fire Inspector I雷平 - This is a technical position requiring considerable initiative and sound judgment in the enforcement and compliance of state and county fire codes and standards.
        • 雷平Fire Apparatus Technician雷平 – This person performs preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance and repair of OCFRD apparatus. This includes performing skilled maintenance and repair of fire emergency vehicles, hydraulic systems, fire pumps, fire equipment, diesel and small engines.

        Positions are also available in Fiscal and Operational Support, Emergency Management, Infrastructure Support and Planning/Technical Services.


        If your education was obtained in the United States, the County recognizes degrees or diplomas which are accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). If you have obtained education from a country other than the United States, your degree or diploma must be evaluated to determine the United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluations (AICE) at your expense.
